Here was my process - or lack there of - while working on the undead death knight wow card. If you are an aspiring artist, I hope this will provide some insight to how a noob artist work. If you are a badass... just smile knowingly and move on :) Production-wise, it's a fail process with lots of wasted work. However, it was one of those paintings where I struggled a lot but learned a lot at the end.

Don't really remember, but most of my cards take a few nights + 1 weekend day to finish. This one went through more struggles, so my guess is 15-20 hours.

Sometimes I use a layer of muted colors close to 50% gray in value as overlay. I think for this one I might have just started painting over stuff in color.

Haha color is a tough one. I remember how frustrating it was the first few (10+) times I tried to color my drawings. What helped me a ton is master studies and still life. Try some quick daily color sketches from photos or what's outside of your window, without using color-picker on your reference photo. I would also highly recommend this book: [link] . Hope this helps!
